Student internships at Midas Pharma

Over the past few weeks, a number of students have completed their internships at Midas Pharma.
We asked two of them, Olivia and Anna, about their experiences.

The two 16-year-old students are currently in year 11 at a grammar school and have each chosen to focus their advanced courses on the natural sciences.

Anna spent her internship mainly in the field of supply chain management and Olivia in IT.

We are delighted to be able to give young talents an insight into the world of work and thus help them make the right career choice.

Read what they both told us here:

Anna and Olivia, nice of you to come and answer a few questions.

Why did you decide to do your internships in the pharmaceutical industry?

Olivia:

It was important to me to do an internship in IT and then my mother advised me to apply to Midas Pharma as she had heard good things about the company.

Anna:

I decided to do an internship in the pharmaceutical industry because I am very interested in chemistry.

So I wanted to find out whether I could imagine a job in the pharmaceutical sector in my future.

What did you particularly like about Midas?

Olivia:

What I particularly like about Midas is that I can look into different areas and learn a lot. It's fun, and the employees are open and welcoming - you speak as equals and feel comfortable.

Anna:

At Midas, I liked the wide range of offers and the opportunity to get to know different departments. The staff were very accommodating and I was able to improve my business English, which helps me in the classroom.

What was your biggest challenge?

Olivia:

It was sometimes difficult to understand everything exactly, as IT involves many complex topics. Fortunately, however, everything was explained to me in a simplified way so that I ultimately had no problems understanding it.

Anna:

My biggest challenge was understanding the complex structures of Midas and the pharmaceutical industry. At school, you don't learn how companies are structured or how departments work together. I needed time to understand the connections and tasks of the departments. Some meeting content and documents were difficult to understand because I lacked the specialist knowledge.

Did your internship have an influence on your career aspirations?

Olivia:

I had known for some time that IT was definitely for me. However, the internship really helped me to confirm this idea and I now also have a more concrete idea of what I want to do in the future - Systems Engineering.

Anna:

After my internship at Midas, I realized that there is much more to working in the pharmaceutical industry than just working in a pharmacy. There are many other areas that I was not yet familiar with. My career ideas have broadened and I can now well imagine working in the pharmaceutical sector. The internship has shown me that I can certainly find a suitable job in this diverse industry.

Thank you very much for your openness. We wish you all the best for the future.
