Employee Interview

Matthias Hassemer is looking for support for his team.

Matthias Hassemer is looking for support for his team, for the position of Project Manager (m/f/d) Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). But what are the actual tasks of a product manager in the area of custom synthesis and technology transfer? Matthias Hassemer reports.

What does a working day look like for you? What are your tasks?

My normal working day, when I'm not on a business trip, starts with opening my email account and looking eagerly at the messages that have come in recently. Usually, the main part of the workday is dominated by incoming inquiries, information about unexpected challenges or feedback on current issues, both from our customers and from our manufacturing partners. It varies a lot. So I don't have a real working routine.

First and foremost, I take care of the life cycle of our commercially handled active pharmaceutical ingredients and deal with manufacturing-related issues (organizational, quality- and/or regulatory-related – in each case in interaction with the respective departments) and provide very intensive support to the various manufacturing partners worldwide. In addition, I also deal - in close cooperation with the colleagues from Marketing & Sales – with everything that has to do with the most diverse international customer inquiries. Consequently, this results in a travel portion that takes up about 10% – 20% of my working time.

The range of incoming questions and tasks is therefore extremely diverse.

What is the biggest challenge in your job?

Spontaneously, I would say: to keep everything in view.

It is not always easy to precisely adjust the flexibly configurable level of detail in the processing of the respective topics; this also requires the commitment of everyone involved to keep the processes running and to readjust here and there if necessary. It is particularly exciting when the various disciplines intervene with the relevant details, so that we can then work together creatively on adapted solutions.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The variety of different projects and the challenges associated with them. In particular, the especially tricky topics, where patience and persistence are needed above all.

In addition, the cooperation and exchange with colleagues, partners, customers and generally project participants worldwide.

What can the new team member look forward to?

The new team member, for the position as Project Manager (m/f/d) Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), can look forward to: Exciting topics, lots of challenges and definitely never boredom.

How would you describe the working atmosphere at Midas?

Since the company is still of manageable size, despite constant (organic) growth, the collegial interaction should be emphasized above all. People know each other and are always willing to help each other. One could speak of a family-like character and also the joint activities always allow for a lot of exchange beyond the individual business areas, which in my opinion is absolutely rewarding. In addition to the professional cooperation, there is also room for extra-occupational activities.

Ultimately, this also promotes creativity and invites people to look beyond their own horizons, which has always been the hallmark of the company's dynamism.
