Cap analogs are synthetic nucleotide structures that mimic the natural 5′ cap of eukaryotic mRNA and are incorporated during in vitro transcription of mRNA‑based medicines; they protect mRNA from enzymatic degradation, enable efficient recognition by the cellular translation machinery, and contribute to enhanced protein expression and reduced immune activation.
