Propafenone hydrochloride is a sodium channel blocker belonging to class I (C) antiarrhythmic agents. Only sodium channels (modulate the transmission of stimulus) in the heart are blocked, resulting in the effect against atrial fibrillation. The action potential duration is hardly changed; however it works similar by structure similarities with the two active substances Lidocain and Chinidin).
